Will of Thomas Bottom - Written September 29, 1789 - - Probated December 1787
Returned unto Henrico County Court the Second day of November - 1789.And Ordered to be Recorded.

Thomas Bottom Will
In the name of God amen, I Thomas Bottom of the County and Parish of Henrico being weak of body but of sound mind and memory do make, Ordain and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit:
Item:I give and bequeath unto my son Francis Bottom fifty acres of land joining Boor Swamp including the buildings whereon I now live to him and his heirs for ever.
Item:I give and bequeath unto my son Pleasant Bottom fifty acres of land adjoining the main road and one feather bed to him and his heirs forever.
Item:I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Bottom one negro woman by the name of Sarah and one feather bed and furniture to here and her heirs for ever, and likewise to have the liberty of living on the plantations as long as she may remain single.Item:I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Bottom one iron pot to him and his heirs for ever.
Item:I give and bequeath unto my son Hazelwood Bottom one feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs for ever.
Item:I give and bequeathe unto my son Turner Bottom one feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs for ever.
Item:I give and bequeath unto my four sons John, William, Micajah and Wilkerson Bottom, not before mentioned, Five Shillings each, to them and their heirs for ever.
And the rest of my Estate to be sold at twelve months credit to pay my debts and whatever may remain to be equally divided between my three sons Micajah, Hazelwood and Turner Bottom to them and their heirs for ever.Lastly I do nominate adn appoint my two sons Pleasant and Francis Bottom Executors to this my last Will and Testament.
In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this twenty ninth day of September in the year of our Lord Anni Domini One thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.

At a Court held for Henrico County athe Courthouse on Monday the seventh of December 1789.
This Will was provided by the Oaths of Mitchell Fariss and Thomas Francis the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.And on the motion of Pleasant Bottom one of the Executors named in the said Will who made Oathe thereto and together with Mitchell Fariss, Littleberry Roysler and Joel Bottom his securities - entered into and acknowledged their Bond in the penalty of three hundred pounds - conditioned as the law decrees; Certicate was granted him for obtaining a Probat (sic) thereof in due form.Liberty being reserved to the other Executor named in the said Will to join in the Probat when he shall think fit.
