The male portion of my paternal ancestors came from the area around Glasenberg, Lambach and Siersthal in what is now France but, in their day, this area was a part of Germany. Although the surname has a French look to it (BOUR), my paternal grandparents considered themselves German. My ancestors bore names like MEYER, SCHEDEL, WEYANT, GRANGE, GROSS, and SCHAFF.
On the female side, the names are BIER, and KLOES (CLAUS). Their roots are in Prussia.

My maternal ancestors, both male and female came from Bavaria in the areas around Kirchenpingarten and Bayreuth. The names KAUSLER, HIPP, GAUSS, and BARTH are featured.

After emigrating to the United States in the late 1880's, both family groups settled in Pennsylvania.

Through marriages, the surnames of ARNDT, WALTER, REICHERT, ZAPF, TANNER, GUAY, WARGO, GLEBA, etc. have found their way into the tree.

My wife's heritage is Portuguese, primarily from the island of San Miguel in the Azores. The names that are most prominent in her family tree are CARREIRO, DA COSTA, COSTA, MENDES, and VALERIO.

I have been working on my genealogy for several years and have accumulated a lot of information but, it seems, the task is never ending. I would be delighted to share all the information I have with interested parties in the hope that I might pick up some more names and dates to fill out my family profile more completely.
