Ky, daughter of JAMES HARBISON and RACHEL PORTER. She was born February 17, 1759 in Chester, Pa., and died Bet. 1817 - 1822 in Mercer . Ky.. He married (2) ELIZABETH HAYES 1822 in Mercer Co. Ky.. She was born Abt. 1792, and died Unknown.

Information on Harbison's "History of Mercer and Boyle Counties."
Perryville, Kentucky was called Harbison's Station and this history is about James Harbison.
Has copy of James Harbison's will and court records.
She states, " he was taken by the Indians and beheaded, Daniel Boone searched with the party for his body, not found, so his head was buried under the stone in Perryville Cemetery."

I found two accounts on this event in Harrodsburg's library. One had Daniel Boone leading the search party, another states he was not in the area at the time to have done so. It related that the Indian ambush came during a wedding at Harbison's station. James Harbison was lame, due to a war injury, and John Ewing went to help him back into the fort, and was killed. Mr. Potts shot the Indian that killed Ewing and they searched for James' body for several days to no avail. There was no monument or marker or mention of any of these events as reported in physical evidence in Perryville. August 1996.
