  Notes for Charles Taylor Bowie:
Charles Taylor Bowie was too young to serve in the Confederate Army since he
was born in 1849, although his five older brothers did. He never married and
was indigent in his later years and died in the Abbeville County Home for the
poor. The county kept no records of deaths of the inmates, therefore it is
hard to place the date of his death, but it is estimated to be between 1910 and
1920, but very likely about 1915.

MOVED FROM SC TO MCCOOL, MISS., BUT DATE IS UNKNOWN. NOTE THAT HIS SON
ROBERT J. BOWIE BECAME MAYOR OF MCCOOL. CENSUS RECORDS FOR BEAT 2, ATTALA
COUNTY, MS. SHOWS HIS WIFE IS MARGARET A. BOWIE. HIS WIFE IS KNOWN TO BE
ANN MCCOWN, THEREFORE THE CENSUS RECORD IS LIKELY FOR A SPOUSE NAMED
MARGARET ANN MCCOWN. THE CENSUS ALSO RECORDS REAL ESTATE VALUED AT $1000.OO
AND PERSONAL ESTATE OF $1250.00. ALSO THE CENSUS SHOWS HE WAS 45 YEARS OLD
IN 1860, INDICATING HIS BIRTH WOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND 1815 INSTEAD OF 1809.
AFTER MOVING TO MCCOOL (FOLLOWING THEIR MARRIAGE) FOUR OF THEIR YOUNGER
CHILDREN WERE BORN, INDICATING UP TO FIVE CHILDREN WERE PROBABLY BORN IN SC.
THEY LATER MOVED TO ARKANSAS, LEAVING SOME OF THE OLDER CHILDREN IN MCCOOL.

Addendum 7-22-99: From Felix Bowie by e-mail message to Everette Bowie:
I have been continuing my search for the grave site of Hezekiah 2 and his wife Margaret An n McKown. Supposedly in AR and I believe this is a fact. In my search. I visited the Garla nd Cemetery in Nimrod, Perry Cty, AR which is a small family plot on private land, which I go t permission of the land owner to visit. Thomasella is No. 31 on your Descendants of Rhodi B owie web site. There you state you had received information from Elizabeth Ann Petillo Bowi e of Cape Coral, FL.. She had indicated that Thomasella's headstone gave her name as Nanni e Ellen and her husbands name as Robert Scott instead of Samuel Scott. I saw these headstone s and made pictures of them. It just didn't feel right, if you know what I mean. In the 189 0 census, it shows that Hezekiah 2 was living with her and Samuel in Morrilton. Since Margar et Ann was not listed, I have assumed she had already died, and he was 89 years old at the ti me. They had long since sold the farm and moved to town. Nimrod is certainly not convenien t to Morrilton, especially in the 1890s, as far as dying there and being buried somewhere els e. Upon further research, I located marriage records of Perry Cty from 1881-1895 and found t he following: Robert Scott married Nannie Isom on 15 June 1887. This is the Robert Scott an d Nannie Ellen Scott buried in Garland Cemetery. This Robert was possibly the brother of Sam uel, as Thomasella and Samuel named their first son Robert. I realize this is no big deal, b ut for others doing further research, I just wanted to set things straight with as many fact s as I could. My search for Hezekiah 2, Margaret Ann, Samuel, and Thomasella continues. The y seem to be the only ones in my line from Eli to present day that I cannot account for. I g uess there has to be a challenge somewhere, or anybody could do it.

Felix
