WHO WAS THE SON OF HENRY BRAWNER BOWIE AND GRANDSON OF HER UNCLE, ELI BOWIE.
AFTER THE DEATH OF HER PARENTS SHE MOVED TO THE HOME OF HER FIRST COUSIN, HENRY
BRAWNER BOWIE. SHE MARRIED AFTER THE CIVIL WAR. SHE AND AUGUSTUS LIVED ON HER
FATHERS FARM ACROSS SC HIGHWAY 185 FROM THE OLD BOWIE FAMILY BURYING GROUNDS.
SHE WAS BORN INTO A PRESBYTERIAN FAMILY BUT JOINED GILGAL METHODIST CHURCH WITH
HER HUSBAND DWHERE SHE REMAINED A LOYAL MEMBER UNTIL HER DEATH. SHE IS BURIED
BESIDE HER HUSBAND IN GILGAL METHODIST CHURCH CEMETERY, DUE WEST, ABBEVILLE
COUNTY, SC.

Notes for Augustus Lafayette Bowie:
This is the son of Henry Brawner Bowie and Matilda Ann McKee. He married his
cousin which can cause a discrepencey of one generation in the descendancy
chart. It does however refer to the proper page for descendants. He
volunteered for the Confederate Army at age 16. Ths was to take his fathers
place, a custom allowed in that day. When he reached draft age he had to
assume his own duty and his father was drafted. They were both captured during
the war and confined to a Union Prison till the conflict was over. He was a
man of great strength and his prowess with a grain cradle, an implement much
used in his day, was well known. He was known for his honesty and his word was
his bond. He was said to drink too much, to the detriment of his family, but
was not considered an alcoholic. He died in 1895 while sitting in a chair
playing with his grand daughter, Allie Bowie. Both he and Jane are buried in
Gilgal Methodist Church Cemetery. He was known to his friends as "Fate" Bowie.

20. Rhodi⁶Bowie, Jr. (Richard Price⁵ Bowie, Rhodi⁴, John³, Abraham², John¹ Boye) was born Abt. 12 Dec 1814 in Abbeville, Abbeville, Sc, Usa, and died 11 Aug 1896 in McCool, Attala, Ms, Usa. He married (1) Elizabeth Doil. She was born Abt. 1817 in , Md, Usa. He married (2) Jane Seawright.

Notes for RhodiBowie, Jr.:
Rhodi Bowie, Jr.(also known as Rhodi Bowie II moved from SC to McCool,Attala
County, MS with his full brothers and sisters. He died in McCool at the age of
81 in 1896 and is buried in Old Bowie Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery 2 1/2
miles south of McCool. He married a woman named Elizabeth. It is believed she
was a Doil (or Doyle).

Addendum 4 March, 1997: According to the tombstone dates in Old Bowie
Cemetery, McCool, Attala, MS., Rhodi Bowie, Jr. died 11 August, 1896 at the age
of 80 years, 8 months, and 29 days. Calculating backward, this would place the
date of birth at approximately 12 December, 1814.
