In 1921, Emily Lynch (or Alice as she was known) was widowed with an 8 week old son. She lived on Maple Street in New Milford, Connecticut. VNA nurse, Agnes Capps came to New Milford, and the local doctor suggested that since she was single (widowed?) with a young daughter, that she reside with Emily and help her out with the new baby. The arrangement worked very well, and they remained very dear friends, even after "nana" Capps took a new position in Bristol, CT.
