I received the death announcement and obituary from the Washington Post dated Monday, Aug 09, 1948: He had a Requiem Mass sung for him on Tuesday, Aug 10, 1948, 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, Wisconsin Ave. and Yuma St., NW. Burial at Cedar Hill; Mattingly Funeral Service. His occupation was Sales Manager. He is noted as a native of Georgetown. He and his family resided at 3809 Warren St. prior to residing in Glover Park. He is descended from "Squire Charles Dawson," of Georgetown.

I am trying to determine if the "Squire Dawson" in the obit is a mistake (John descends from Charles Drury, a Justice of the Peace in D.C. in the 1800s - who is also a "Squire") or if there is a Dawson line to consider.
==========

"Mother Dies of Operation
Caesarian Fatal To Young D.C. Wife
A week-old baby boy gurgled happily in his crib at Sibley Hospital today, blissfully unaware of a tragedy he won't realize for years to come. The boy was born in a difficult Caesarian operation physicians resorted to last Friday in an effort to save the life of his young mother, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gregory, 22. She died Tuesday. Charles N. Gregory, Jr is the little boy. At the home of Mrs. Gregory's parents, 658 F St, SW, today, the young father was too grief stricken to discuss any plans he may have for his motherless son. Requiem mass for Mrs. Gregory, who attended Sacred Heart Academy and Western High School, will be said at Saint Dominic's Church, Sixth and F Sts, SW, at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Drury, of the F st address."
