Notes for Alf Russell Hawkins: Alf's sister married Grandpa's brother. Married 6 times. 3 times to my grandmother. Considered a "ladies" man. Herb tells the story that at one time, he was hiding in a tree and overheard a bunch of towns men planning on hanging Alf because of his playing around with a lady in town. Herb got to the farm before the men and warned Alf and told him to hide. Herb tehn met the men at the door with a shotgun. He told the men that his father wasn't home. They didn't believe him. He told them that if they tried to come in he would shoot them all dead. One of the men said, beleive it, he's just crazy enough to do it. with that the men left. Shortly after, Alf moved his family.
