Olivesburg, Neighborhood News, A very exciting runaway occured here Thursday evening. John Backensto drove to the store and left his wife to hold the the horse while he went into the store. Just as he returned and got the lines the horse became frightened and ran quite a distance,dragging Mr Backensto, when finally he lost control of it and ran over the church hill and ran against a telephone pole where it threw Mrs. Backensto (nee Emma Crosier) out and freeing itself from its haness ran a distance where it was caught by C.D.Wolfe. Miss Luella Backensto and Mrs. Isaac Fike visited friends in Mansfield Tuesday. June 11,1901 Invitations have been received in this city announcing the marriage of Luella May Backensto to Charles M. Tucker June 19th at 11:00 at the home of the bride, one mile west of Olivesburg. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs U.P. Backensto and is quite well known in this city. June 18, 1901 Probate court, Marriage Licsenses: Charles M. Tucker, of Savannah and Luella M. Backensto of Olivesburg. Mansfield News, June 19th ,1901 : MR & Mrs Isaac Oswalt of West 3rd Street and Mr &Mrs W.M.Foulkes of West 5th Street went to Olivesburg this morning where they will attend the wedding of Miss Louella Tucker to Mr Charle M.Tucker June 20,1901Mansfield News stated: A quiet home wedding was solemnized June 19 at 11:00 at the home of P. It is very sad to report the death of one who in life was so kind, helpful and faithful to those who new her. Her noble Christian life , her great patience during her last illness proved that she had not lived in vain and that a great reward was only waitng her departure from this life. In 1923, june 5th edition, the unexpected death of the 48 year old Luella May Backensto Tucker is reported. Although the paper attributes her death to heart failure,the underlying cause was a thyroid condition which had caused a large goiter to grow inwards into her throat. Death of Uriah Pierce Backensto Mansfield News, ., aug 25,1933 : Mansfield Mas Father Succumbs: Servicers for U.P. Backensto to be held Sunday Uriah Pierce Backensto, 80,father of Omar Backensto who resides near Mansfield, died last evening at the home of his daughter Mrs Chester Moore,one mile northeast of Savannah. Survivors are 2 daughters ,Mrs. Moore and Mrs Frank Bruce, of near Ashland, 2 sons Leo of near Ashland and Omar Backensto, 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the late home Sunday afternoon at 2:00 and at 2:30 at the Olivesburg church by Rev. Mervin Jenny. Burial in the Olivesburg Cemetry will be in charge of I.L.McQuate, funeral directors.
