1. JOHN¹ HOBBS was born Abt. 1802 in Virginia, and died Aft. 1860 in Buchanan Co VA. He married NANCY CORDELIA UNKNOWN Abt. 1822 in VA or Ky.

Notes for JOHN HOBBS:
In March of 2000, I found Land Warrants for John Hobbs, dated Sept 19, 1844 in Tazewell County Courthouse Entry Book #2.Page 105. Land is located in "now" Buchanan Co Va on Dismal Creek.
At the same time, Gibson, Groce, Breeding, Luster, Blankenship and Collins enters land warrants in the same area of Dismal Creek, Buchanan Co. Va. These are the families the children of John Hobbs married in to.

John Hobbs is listed as John Hobbles in the 1840 Logan Co Va/WV census. Mary Hobbs who marries James Gibson says she is born in Logan Co WV on her Buchanan Co marriage record. So we know that John Hobbles of 1840 is John Hobbs of 1850.

Notes for NANCY CORDELIA UNKNOWN:
Nancy maybe Nancy Davis of Floyd Co Ky, but more research will need to be done to prove this. If she is, she has a sister, Ellen C Davis who married George Washington Hobbs in Floyd Co Ky in 1824.
