George Wesley HARRIS was born March 13, 1919, in Waycross, Georgia, USA. He is the son of John Wesley Harris b.April 11, 1864 or 1874, Jessup, Wayne County Georgia, USA, and Susan or Susie Elizabeth STEWART b. July 4, 1901, Georgia. They were married in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia, June 22, 1918.
They later divorced and Susie married Lester Lee ANDERSON. They lived in Tampa, Florida until their deaths. Susie died in October 1947, Lee Anderson died in January, 1980. They are both buried in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida.
John Wesley Harris died in Jacksonville, FL December 16, 1937. His remains were transfered to Waycross, Ware County, GA, he was buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
According to the death Certificate and Obituary John Harris was the son of Hampton Harris b abt 1832 GA and Lavinia West.
Hampton's father was Thompson Harris b. 1764 in NC and Nancy Ursery b. GA they were married abt 1808 in Burke County GA.
I have so far found no information on the parents of Nancy Ursery and Mrs. Lavinia West who was the second wife of Thompson Harris or the father of Mrs West daughter, Lavinia West that married Hampton Harris.
Susie Stewart was the daughter of Leighton Erastus Stewart and Susan Elizabeth Scott. Susan Scott is buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Waycross GA. Can't find when or where Leighton died and is buried.
My other research is into the HAPPOLD and AHERN families. My grandfather Theodore Happolds' father was a Gottlieb Happold from Germany. They settled in Philadelphia, PA, in the 1800's. My grandfather was born abt 1892. We believe he spent some time in a "Home or Orphanage" when he was a teen. I have no information on his mother except that she was either previously married to or later married a Mr. Brown. They had a son, Joe E. BROWN.
I am also tracing the ancestors of my Husbands (2) James Leo FARABEE, & Robert Kenneth BOYETTE. So far I have more info on them than my own family.
I hope that someone out there can help me to get past the stumbling blocks on my ancestors.
