I am researching the surnames BOYCE, BEMIS, CROSBIE, and HILL and several branches of those lines including but not limited to CORP, FLEMMING, HEUSTED, KENYON, MACKEY and RAMSEY. My primary focus has been the BOYCE line. I collect as much information as I can find about descendants of JOSEPH BOYCE (b. 1608) who emigrated to the United States from Gravesend, England on November 20, 1635. I have also been fortunate to have been a descendant of JOHN BEMIS (1565) and ANNA SPRAY of Dedham, Essex County, England and their descendants Joseph and Mary who came to America in 1640. There seems to have been an enormous amount of information about the descendants of this family. I am anxious to develope the branches of this part of my family history.
My CROSBIE ancestors descend from JAMES CROSBIE and ELIZABETH ORR who were married in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland on August 3, 1804. Their grandson, ROBERT CROSBIE, of Kilmarnock, married MARY FLEMMING of Greenock, Scotland and emigrated to America where they are both buried in Glens Falls, New York. I am especially interested in locating the descendants of one of their children, CHARLES THOMPSON CROSBIE(b. April 6, 1873) who married IDA J. KEYES on May 1, 1898. He and my grandfather ROBERT CROSBIE (I don't know if Ida went with them or not), went to California sometime around 1915 to search for gold. Robert returned but Charles remained in California. The last information that I have is from his sister ISABELL CROSBIE POTTER's obituary dated February 24, 1956. It states that Charles lived in Los Angles, California at that time.
The information that I have regarding the HILL line of my family tree is the most limited. My great grandfather was SAMUEL HILL (b. 1852), son of TRUMAN and MARY RAMSEY HILL of Greenfield, New York. SAMUEL married EVA CORP and they had 4 daughters he was a basket maker in Splinterville, near Greenfield, New York. I believe that TRUMAN HILL had been a neighbor of his wife MARY RAMSEY (based on information from the 1855 census) and that MARY and her mother, ANNA BLACK RAMSEY had emigrated from Dunegal, Ireland. Anna had been the wife of SAMUEL RAMSEY who died in Ireland in 1821.
I am interested in developing these lines by sharing what I have and discussing corrections, additions and sources.
