I am researching the Boyd family from Tuscaloosa,Alabama. Robert Boyd ROBERT1 BOYD was born Abt. 1781 in NC, and died July 14, 1863 in Franklin Co., AL. He married (1) TEMPERANCE PITMAN Abt. 1800 in N Carolina (Mecklenburg Co.?). She was born Abt. 1784 in NC, and died in (?). He married (2) LYDIA WHITAKER November 20, 1837 in Tuscaloosa Co., AL. She was born Abt. 1818 in N Carolina, and died February 4, 1897 in Alabama. first appears in the 1840, Tuscaloosa Co., AL census, but I don't know where he was before that. In addition, I'm researching the (Joseph)JoelMannen Scott family of Franklin County, Alabama. He was born in South Carolina around 1823 and came to Al.I heard From Richard Hughes site and others as a teen.Joel and his brother Wesley Scott were with an Indian woman. I have heard that the woman was called Old woman. They may have been forced to join the trail of tears. It is said that on this journey that they slipped off from it some where in Misouri and traveled by canoe southward using tributaries and settled in Alabama alone the bear creek near hodges ala. His brother Wesley later on moved to Texas. Where he settled around Denton and Dallas area. I have heard that Joel once took a trip to see his brother there and it was the only trip he took.
