ELIGION: William joined the church at Lunenburg in 1829. He later dismissed to another church. He was a member of the first choir in the Congregational Church in Pewaukee (1840).

NOTES: He went to Pewaukee in the late 1830s (probably 1836) and was a farmer. He settled a farm about one mile southeast of Pewaukee on the Pewaukee River; where the river is crossed by what was known as the Watertown Plank Road. The land is east and north of that intersection; the land has been converted to an industrial park. [1 mile ESE of Main & Prospect in Pewaukee]

1835: letter dated 19 July 1835 from Jerusha Gates to J. Warren Brackett
[cousin] in Huntsburg, OH: Jerusha writes of Samuel Gates' death in Kirkland, ME, [bro of William]; she does not know of William's whereabouts and requests that he be told if anyone knows where he is.

1838: Pewaukee: letter dated 27 June 1838 to William from his brother, George, addressed to Milwaukee, Wisconsin Territory in care of Asa Clark

NOTES: family letter from Eliza Webb to M.E.G. Wilson says "your mother had an Uncle Ripley Webb who lived at Lunenburg when you were here [in the 1840s], have since moved to Guildhall," living about a mile below Eliza. He died 9 June 1868 (letter dated 25 July 1868)
