No contemporary document reveals the name of the wife of Albert I. All erudites agree that he married a princess of Carolingian descent by the name of Ermengarde, but the chronology makes it more likely that Ermengarde was the wife of Albert's son, Robert II. .... Thus, Albert II was probably the son of Robert II and grandson of Albert I, but possibly son of Albert I and younger brother of Robert II.
