Welcome to the Brandyberry Family Web Page.

I am Ed Brandyberry and my wife is Frances Westlake Brandyberry. The scope of my genealogical study is the direct ancestry of our children, as well as the descendants of those ancestors. This means I am working on both the Brandyberry and the Westlake family genealogies.

The four primary families are:

BRANDYBERRY - The name was originally BRANDENBURG. I am a descendant of Alexander Heinrich "Henry" Brandenburg. He came to Frederick County, Maryland circa 1750. My ancestors then went to Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana. Most research has indicated that the Brandenburg family is descended from a descendant of Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg "The Great Elector".

PYLE - My mother is Ella Naoma PYLE (maiden name). Once I got past the "wall" , Great-Grandfather Elias Hicks Pyle, it was revealed that the Pyles were in a group of Quakers who came over to Chester Co during the great migration to William Penn's charter lands.

WESTLAKE - My wife is a first generation American on the Westlake side. We know that her grandfather emigrated from Cornwall, England, and was one of the early settlers in Taber, Alberta, Canada. We knew very little beyond Edward Trevanion Westlake until quite recently. We can now go back with certainty to John Westlake, great-grandfather of John Trevanion Westlake.

BACON - My mother-in-law is Alice Bacon. This family is incredibly interesting. You want to study early American History? Study this family. The personages in her direct ancestry include John Alden (cooper on The Mayflower), Gov. William Robinson, Roger Sherman (signer of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence), Jeremiah Day (the 9th President of Yale), and the Hazards of Peace Dale, Rhode Island, among many others. The future of this page will change with time. I had a disastrous crash of both my primary computer as well as the backup disk! I am recreating the database, but this is a long process. The reports have all been deleted. Hopefully I can repost them sometime in January 2011.

While I have been recreating my data in Family Tree Maker, I have been able to make a few corrections, and broken down a number of walls. I remain in debt to a great number of collaberators.

Special thanks to cousin Phil Davis (Brandyberry), Beth Colvin (Brandenburg), the late Nancy Schott (Bacon), Brooks Hubler (Brandenburg), A. David Brandyberry and many others.

One more word - Genealogy is a fun hobby. But do not let the interest in your ancestry keep you from adoption in the family of God. Believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God.

Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by me." - John 14:6

"Nothing is the same since Jesus came." - Charles G.Dennison, late pastor of Grace OPC, Sewickley, PA. Think about it!
