Charely is the son of William "Willie" Lovejoy and Nancy (Jordon) Lovejoy. Charley was born in Wood County, Texas.
He married Myrtle Smith, the daughter of Torre and Nancy (Harris) Smith.
Charley and Myrtle had twelve children.
Charley and Myrtle are buried in Ore City Cemetery, Ore City, Upshur County, Texas.
