The "History of the Bradley Family in Canada" begins with the emigration of George Bradley from Yorkshire, England to Canada in approximately 1841. Little is known of the previous years of George, except it is believed that his father was Roger Broadley of Mappleton, Yorkshire, England.

Somewhere along the way, George changed his name from "Broadley" to "Bradley", however, on numerous occasions he reused the name "Broadley"

George came to Canada and took up residence in Vaughan Township, York County, Upper Canada, which has now become Ontario. He was married to Mary Hepburn (possibly Hepton) and had 2 children, Annie Louisa Bradley (August 4, 1847) and Roger Hepton Bradley (January 6, 1850).

Little is known of "Mary" and much searching has produced no information as to her birth or death. It is believed that her maiden name was "Hepton" as Roger and his son both had "Hepton" as their middle name.

It is confirmed that George married Eliza McFarland on December 4th, 1850 in Vaughan Township and the marriage certificate shows him as a "widower", thus leading one to believe that Mary had died in the previous months. George & Eliza had 6 additional children born to them in Vaughan Township:....James (1852....Ellen (1854)....Samuel (1855)....Francis "Frank" (1856....George (1859)....and Joseph (1864).

I am still researching the complete family history and any additional information or corrections will be greatly appreciated. I am also willing to share any information which I now have.
