2. ROBERT -2² BROWNELL (THOMAS -1¹)¹ was born 1576 in Yorkshire, England¹. He married MARY * WILSON, BROWNELL¹ 1605 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England ². She was born Abt. 1576 in Yorkshire, England.

1. Robert Brownell

Robert Brownell was born in Yorkshire, England in 1576. He was the son of Thomas and Margaret (Gilbert-Hayse) Brownell. Thomas was born about 1535 and Margaret was born about 1539. They were married on 20 October 1560 and had at least three sons: William, born in 1574: Robert, born in 1576; and Rowland, born in 1578. Rowland lived in Rotherham, Yorkshire, and married Dorothy Greene on 20 February 1602.
Robert Brownell married Mary Wilson, by whom he had three children: George, Mary and Thomas. A George Brownell was born in London about 1593. By the age of seventeen (in 1610), he had served
out his apprenticeship and was married about 1613 in London. He had a family, one son of which was named Thomas. This George Brownell may be the son of Robert Brownell and the brother of Thomas.
The sons of Robert Brownell are referred to in the will of a Thomas Wilson of London and Yorkshire. The will, dated 1657, says in part:
I give to my cousin, George Brownell of London, twenty pounds, to be paid him out of the rents of Ryecroft. To Mary, daughter of George Brownell, ten pounds, at day of her marriage, if with her father's consent; if not, to her father. I give to my cousin, Thomas Brownell, of Portsmouth, R.I., in New England, and to his children, twenty pounds, to be paid either to himself, if he shall come over to receive the same, or else to such person or persons on his behalf as he shall lawfully assign to receive same.
Robert and Mary (Wilson) Brownell lived in Sandal Magna Parish, Agbrigg Waberntake, Yorkshire. The dates of their deaths are not known.

	iii.	MARY BROWNELL³, b. Abt. 28 Jul 1611, London, England; d. 1718.
