An obituary for Edward found on the web site of Sheppey historian Colin Penney reads:
Barber Edward, Chief Trinity House Pilot for 39 years native of Hoo. Twice married. 6 Children. 3 married Sage, Colver, died 1905 January 6th age 72.
It is not clear from this information if he was a pilot for 39 years or if he lived in Hoo for 39 years.
Although this information is from an unsubstantiated source, the dates and the information referring to Sages and Colvers agrees with other sources.
Elsewhere on Colin Penney's web site is a reference to the burial of an Edward Barber age 72 of Marine Parade at Halfway Cemetery on 11/01/05 (January 11, 1905) This would appear to be the same Edward Barber.
