He married JOSEPHINE AMANDA FOLGER February 22, 1866 in New Matamoras, Monroe County Ohio, daughter of HENRY FOLGER and MARGARET MCKNIGHT. She was born 1848 in New Matamoras, Monroe County Ohio, and died January 09, 1916 in Clarksburg, Harrison County, WV.

William Dye, was the first son born of Benjamine and Mary Goudy Dye. He was born on the 24th day of July in 1842, in Monroe County, Ohio. William Dye married Amanda "Josephine" Folger on the 22nd day of February, 1866 at Monroe County Ohio. Amanda was born in 1848, probably in Ohio. William and Josephine Dye had one son, Henry Hannibal, born on the 5th day of January, 1868, in New Matamoras, Washington County, Ohio. William Dye was a laborer and farmer, he lived in Monroe county Ohio, Tyler, Ritchie, and Harrison Counties, West Virginia.
William Dye volunteered for service in the Union Army during the Civil War, for three years. He was mustered in as a private in Co. E, 116 Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry on the 14th day of August 1862. He was discharged as a private on the 14th day of June, 1865.
William Dye died on the 27th of November, 1912 and Amanda Josephine Dye passed away on the 9th day of January 1916, both died and are buried in Clarksburg, Harrison County, West Virginia.
