Notes for Margaret Donahue:
Mrs. J.W. Clancey, well known Fonda resident, died Wednesday, April 24th 1940.
This community joins in expressing sorrow over the death of one of its best known and respected residents, Mr. J.W. Clancy, who passed away last week Wednesday, April 24th. Mrs. Clancy died in Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge. Where she was taken two weeks previously for treatment. Prior to that time she had been confined to her home in Fonda for four weeks with sickness, and she had been in falling health for some time.
Funeral services were held last Saturday morning in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Fonda, Reverend P>J> Murphy officiating at the Requiem Mass at 9:30 o’clock. The services were largely attended. Interment was in Mt. Zion cemetery. Pall bearers were William Kelly, John Kent P>S> Peiffer, Jerry O’Brien, Jack Murphy & Ambrose McGowan
Mrs. Clancy was born June 5, 1869 in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew to young womanhood there, and on September 5, 1900 she was married to J.W. Clancy. The ceremony took place in Des Moines. They lived on a farm in Colfax township until 1908, then moved to Fonda, whish was her home ever since.
She is survived by her husband J.W. Clancy, and one daughter, Irene, at home two brothers John Donahoe and Frank J. Donahoe, and two sisters, Anna B Donahoe and Elizabeth Donahoe all of Des Moines Iowa.
