1.JAMES HENRY C1 BRANHAM was born Abt. 1820 in Kentucky, and died 10 Mar 1865 in Laclede Cnty, Missouri.He married MARY ELIZABETH J HOSKINS 15 Mar 1841 in Miller Cnty, Missouri.She was born 15 Oct 1820 in Virginia, and died 08 Aug 1893 in Bedford, Tarrant Cnty, Texas.

Migrated to Missouri from Kentucky sometime after the birth of second child Abt 1844.
Today's Moniteau County, Missouri, was originally a part of the area known as the Louisana Purchase.Howard County was formed from this area in 1816 and included all the territory north of the mouth of the Osage River and what is currently Moniteau County.In 1818, Cooper County was formed out of this area, taking all the area between the Osage and Missouri Rivers.Cole County was formed in 1820 containing all its present territory and all that of Miller County north of the Osage River and that part of Moniteau east of the range line between 15 and 16.Moniteau County was then formed in 1845 and taken from Cole and Miller Counties.The Moniteau County Court first met and the new county performed its first official business on April 2, 1845.
Near the mouth of the Moniteau (Manito) River the first settlers found a column of rock at the bluffs of the Missouri River, a sculpture and painting of a colossal figure.The natives at the time of the settlers arrival worshipped the figure as a god and called it Manito. Translated, Moniteau County means the "Country of the Great Spirit" or literally "God's Country".Manito, sometimes spelled Monito, was the Indian name for the Great Spirit or Deity.The column of rock was destroyed in the building of the river route of the railroad from Jefferson City to Boonville.This is how Moniteau County got its name.Taken from the writings of L.F. In the 1850 US census, taken on 26 Sep 1850, the family was living in Moniteau County, Missouri, 58th District, Page 36, Dwelling/Household 495.Listed as a surveyor owning $1,000 in real property.
In the 1860 US census, they were living in Lebanon, Laclede County, Missouri - Pg 222.Listed as a hotel keeper owning $3,000 in real and $6,700 in personal property,Also listed in the 1860 Slave Schedule, Laclede, Missouri - Pg 405.

Reportedly hung by Union soldiers on 10 March, 1865, as his wife and family fled.

Elizabeth came to Texas with her family after her husband, James Henry C John Henry C Branham, was reportedly hung by Union soldiers on 10 Mar 1865 during the latter part of the Civil War.

Apparently migrated to Texas with children sometime after September 1866.
In 1870 US Census on Pg 496 #361 dated 28 Jul 1870, she was living in Prec 2, Tarrant County, Texas, with her second husband, Robert Morrow and four children under 20 years of age.
In 1880 US Census on Pg 150 #141 dated 9-10 Jun 1880, living in Prec3, Tarrant County, Texas. living with her second husband, Robert Morrow, her son, James Branham age 21, and a granddaughter, Minnie Larkin age 7.
Buried in south section of Smithfield Cemetery, North Richland Hills, Tarrant County, Texas.Cemetery is located at 6000 Smithfield Rd between Chapman Road and Mickey St across street from the Smithfield United Methodist Church.Site visited by Bob Branham (great grandson) and his wife, Ineta, on Sunday, 26 Oct 1997.Tombstone (about 36" tall) stood upright and in good condition.Inscription reads "Elizabeth J Morrow, Oct 15 1820, Aug 8, 1893".Grave is located about 30 ft south of roadway thru cemetery and just east of large Clark block containing an 8 ft monument and a large cedar tree.
Her maiden name is shown as Mary Hodgkiss on death certificate of her son, James H Branham dated 6 Feb 1920.May also be known as E J Branham.
