My father, Calvis Harvey Baker, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and was the oldest of 5 children of Walter Burlin Baker and his wife Essie Pearl Brown Baker. They moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma in 1915 where they lived out their lives.

James Wiley Durham was the son of my grandmother's brother, George O. Durham. They lived in St. Louis, Mo., and from what I understand, he was called "Jimmy".

My mother, Margaret Helen Gillespie was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She was the only daughter of Edward Allen Gillespie, Sr., and his wife, Minnie May Durham Gillespie. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma where she lived until about age 17-18.

I'm a little confused about this picture, and exactly how these relate to my Gr-grandfather. Maitland wrote on the back of the picture, "Willie & Caroline Durham, David Weaver Durham's only son, both deceased" According to my grandmother's records there were only two boys, Robert and George. If you know about this, please let me know.

My mother had been talking to Maitland about the type of belt that little boys wore back in these days. Maitland sent her this picture and wrote on the back, "Brother Vernon, Sister Jessie, and I. Note Vernon's belt swings down like your Edward's. I was age 5, Vernon was 3 and Jessie 5 months old."

My great-grandfather, John H. Gillespie lived in Fleming county, Kentucky until the Civil War. He joined the union army, then after the war went to Indiana, and finally settled in Kansas where he married Sarah Ann Cohoe.

Maitland Weaver had sent me this picture some time ago. She says that J.G. grew this mustache as a joke, had his picture taken and sent it to them thinking they wouldn't recognize him. Shortly afterward he shaved it off.

My grandfather was born 22 Aug. 1875 in Chanute, Allen County, Kansas. He was the first son of John H. Gillespie and his wife Sarah Ann Cohoe. Edward lived most of his life in the Kay County, Oklahoma area, both in Blackwell, and Ponca City. He worked for the gas company in Blackwell for a number of years, and then joined the Postal Service in Ponca City where he served in various capacities including Asst. Postmaster. He died 9 Dec. 1972 in Blackwell, Ok.
