Newport, Rhode Island, August 17, 1978. Loris (the courtly looking old dude with the beard) whips off his snappiest salute to his son David on the occasion of his (David's) commissioning as Ensign (Unrestricted Line) in the United States Navy. For this customary rendition of respect, Loris was duly awarded the traditional silver dollar by David in recognition of his first formal salute as a commissioned Naval Officer.
