This 1894 photograph portrays Dr. John Campbell Brewer (1847-1920). Dr. Brewer relocated to Texas in 1875 from his birthplace in Mount Meigs, Montgomery County, Alabama. He continued his ongoing medical practice in Caldwell County where he met (and later married) Margaret Louisa Cardwell (1856-1942), eldest daughter of his benefactor, James Albert Cardwell (1827-1908).
