John Scalisi, father of Mary Rose Scalisi Brewer, was born in Opelousas, Saint Landry Parish, Louisiana, on September 19, 1888. He was the son of immigrant parents, Giralamo Scalisi (1851-1931) and Rosa Pecorino (1856-1930). John died in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, on February 25, 1936, and is buried there in the Graceland-Orange Grove Cemetery.
