School 'Daze'

School 'Daze'
This is the Lytton Springs school building. Built in 1926 as a replacement for the preceding structure erected in 1912, the school encompassed all grades from the 1st through the 11th. (Of course, this was before 12 grades were required for a high school diploma.) In 1944, integration into the Caldwell County School System was begun and High School students were then bussed to Lockhart. When integration was fully accomplished in 1948 the school was permanently closed, ringing down the curtain on public education in the small community of Lytton Springs, Texas. Photo provided through the courtesy of Thomas and Nelda Dannelly.
