This snapshot of the Joel Culpepper family was taken in about 1944. Left to right are: Ramah Frances Culpepper Alexander (1914-2005), Billy Joe Culpepper (1928-1983), Addie Jewel Culpepper Roberts (1909-1996), Dora Frances Tally Culpepper (1888-1964), and Joel Rudolphus "Joe" Culpepper (1885-1964). Their eldest son, Hilton Abania Culpepper (1921-2007), was on duty with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European Theater of Operations when this picture was taken.
