This picture of Anthony Rucker Cardwell (1797-1891), ggg-grandfather of Loris, is believed to have been taken in 1889-1890 time frame. Born in Campbell County, Virginia, Anthony moved to Grainger County, Tennessee, in about 1817. In 1830, he appeared on the census records for Jefferson County. In 1855 he relocated with his family to Caldwell County, Texas, settling near the town of Lockhart. He is buried in the Cardwell Cemetery near Lockhart in Caldwell County, Texas.
