Married Nancy E. Hancock on August 14, 1862, in Boone County Indiana.

Declaration for Widow's Pension - Feb. 6, 1892
Nancy E. Breese aged 48 years, a resident of the city of Mount Vernon, county of Jefferson, state of Illinois, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Moses Breese, who enlisted under the name of Moses Breese in Company C 130 Indiana Infantry. That she cannot give date of soldiers enlistment, she believes he had claim for pension No. 787575 believes he served at least ninty days in the late War of the Rebellion in the service of the united States; who was Honorably dischanged, and died on the 3rd day of January 1892. That she was married under the name of Nancy E. Hancock to said Moses Breese on the 14 day of August 1862, by Samuel Ross, at Boone County Indiana there being no legal barrier to said marriage. Neither party had been previously married. That she has not remarried since the death of the said Moses Breese. That she is without other means of support than her daily labor. That names and dates of birth of all the children now living under sixteen years of age of the soldier are as follows:

Arminda Breese, born Nov 18, 1885
Moses A. Breese, born Jan 20, 1883

She hereby appoints James B. Logan of Mount Vernon State of Illinois her true and lawful attorney to prosecute her claim and receive a fee of $10.


Declaration for Invalid Army Pension
On this 11 day of ?? 1888 personally appeared before me Israel ???? Clerk of the Circuit Court, a court of record within and for the count and state aforesaid Moses Breese aged 49 years, a resident of Thomtown in the county of Boone in the state of Indiana who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is the identical Moses Breese who enlisted in the service of the United States at day of December 1863 as a private in Company C of the 130th regiment of Ind Vol command by L.P. Adams and was honorably discharged at Indianapolis state of Indiana of the 14 day of Dec. 1865. That his personal description is as follows: Age 19 height 5 feet 10 inches complexion fair hair dark eyes blue. That while a member of the organization aforesaid in the service and in the line of his duty at or near a place called Atlanta state of Georgia on or about the 6th day of August 1864.
While actively engaged in battle was wounded in left breast by gun shot and immediately placed in care in field hospital and treated for said wound two days, thence was transferred to hospital Marillta Georgia where I remained under treatment ???? about 13 day of August 1864 at which date was transferred to hospital called ????????, Tennessee about 15 day Nov. 1864 entered hospital No 1 ???? as detail nurse and 8 or 10 days contracted small pox and on 12 day
Dec. 1864 was sent to Pest hospital N0 ! Branch B and was seriously diseased of small pox for about 4 months remained in this hospital til about Oct 1865 I claim disease of lungs, kidneys, eyes and slight deafness results of small pox contracted above in course ?? as of those results of small pox and gun shot wound of breast I claim pension.

Discharge Papers
Know ye, that Moses Breese a private of captain ??? company C 130 regiment of Indiana Infantry volunteers who was enrolled on the Seventh day of December 1986 served three years or during the war is hereby DISCHARGED from the services of the United State the second day of December 1865 at Charlotte North Carolina by reason of S.O.249 ?????. Said Moses Breese was born Delaware Co in the state of Indiana ?? years of age five feet ten inches high, fair complexion blue eyes, brown hair and by occupation when enrolled a Farmer.


Pension was denied in June of 1888 and reinstated in December 1893

Died 1925 burial clothes $5.30 paid by son Alvy (lived with son) Alvy Breese states that his mother was crippled in Oct 1912 and after that was never able to walk and that he himself took care of her until the beginning of ler last illness July 26, 1925.
