In 2001, I completed my family book which contains over 5,000 descendants of Jean-Baptiste Lecoq. He is the direct ancestor of my Northern New York State "Ladouceur" family originating in Normandy, France in St.Laurent Ville de Rouen. I find the first records of Jean-Baptiste's son at Fort St. Frederic on Lake Champlain (New York) around 1757. Jean-Baptiste Lecoq dit Ladouceur then migrated to Quebec after his military service. My French Canadian heritage is well documented to include such names as: Boyer, Deschamps (Dishaw & Heneau), Tovette (Coutourier dit Lajoie), LaBerge, Guilbault, Garand, Mulotte, Houatte-Godard, Dumesneil and Jeffrey. My Mother's ancestory is quite another story as I have much to do to find as much information as my Father's. The "Sweeney" line (Mother's) includes such names as: Easter, Kingston, Johnson, Sizeland, Long, Summers, and Moore. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of some assistance as you search for your family. I am more than happy to share any information I can to help you...sharing information is what it's all about; but, meeting new friends and family is my sweetest reward. |
