Albert Bland Marlow was born September 1882 in Horry County, SC. He died on August 15, 1943 due to a CVA in the old Martin's Hospital in Mullins, SC.He was the son of Joseph E and Susie Marlow, and brothers were; George W, William, Joseph Croft, Melvin "Mel", and Dusenbury "DB" and sisters were Mary, Missie, Caroline, and Elizabeth J.D. called "Janie".He was married 4 times, to: Lottie Brabor, dau of John and Joann Price Brabor of Robeson Co, Rosa Ethel Marlow Prince, Edna Harper of Nash County, Nc and Rose Mae Washington.He had 16 known children. Rosa Ethel Marlow, was the daughter of James Marsden and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Fipps Marlow, born on August 8, 1904 in South Carolina. Brothers were Arthur, Elwood, and Barnie Marlowe. Only sister was Elizabeth Marlow. She had a congenital heart defect since birth and died at the very young age of 36 on August 2, 1941.She is buried at Fipps Cemetery on hiway 410 just out of the Chadbourn, NC city limits.Rosa Ethel Marlow was born August 9, 1922 in Scotland Neck, Hobgood Twp, Halifax County NC.She married Wiley Thurman Lynn on April 19, 1941 in Dillon, SC. Ethel Rosa Marlow Lynn died February 8, 1999 at the age of 76 at Southeasten General Medical Center in Lumberton, NC due to Pulmonary Fibrosis with complications of penumonia, and is buried in the Hammonds Cemetery alongside of her sister Noma Lilliand and grandparents Joseph and Susie Marlow, and aunt Janie Marlow Soles, in Nichols, SC.

Rosa Ethel looks to be about 3-5 years old in this photo, and Lilliand maybe 1 year or 15 months? Lonie Marlow Elliott sent me this photo in December 1999, as I had never seen it, and my mom died in February 1999, I am not sure of the age. Mom was born 1922 in Scotland Neck, Hobgood Twp, so this photo must have been made in Scotland Neck, abt 1924-1926.Lilliand was born July 29, 1923 and died June 29, 1931.

Civil was the sister in law of Albert Bland and the wife of Dusenbury B, his brother. I located two daughters of Civil still living through her will in Marion County SC.Lonie Marlow Elliott in Conway, SC and Lucy Marlow Turner in Whiteville NC. Lonie is 87 and Lucy is 89 years old. I have made visits to them several times.

This is Lucy the oldest of the sisters, I visited her in the nursing home in Whiteville. When I walked in she said "Honey, I don't know who you are but I know you are a Marlow. You look just like my Aunt Missy!" We had a enjoyable visit and she told me many things of which Missie had married L.P. Watts of Nakina. She verified info I had obtained.

Lonie gave me this photo the first time I visited to meet her. She said "It was my birthday, but Lucy was the oldest and got to wear my hat and shoes for the photo. Lucy is 2 years old and Lonie is one. The photo was made on the porch of the old Marlow Homeplace on Wannamaker Road in Nichols, SC. The home has long been torn down, but was just next to the Wannamaker School.

Lonie told me so many things, gave me exact dates of birth and death and most of the photos of her brother and Lucy and thier mother, and my grandparents. I had never seen a photo of my grandfather, and did not know what he looked like, until she sent me the picture.

The home was loacted just down from the old school which burned down years ago, and parts of it are still standing. Lucy and Lonie are the daughters of Civil and Dusenbury Marlow and the nieces of Albert Bland.

Ruth Reynolds married Patrick "Pat" Thurston 's brother. They had one son Robert that was killed in the war.I took care of Unlce Pat after the death of Aunt Ruth. Daily going to his home to prepare meals, wash and clean the home. He was a amputee and lost his other leg in 1975 which resulted in a heart attack and his death. He is buried in Delco, North Carolina.

Thurston Reynolds the husband of my grandmother's third marriage, and Elwood and Barnie, the brothers of Rosa Ethel Marlow Reynolds.Thurston and Rosa lived on the Alfred Smith Farm in Whiteville, NC. After Rosa's death in 1941, Thurston left for the Navy, and their daughters Thelma and Dot went to live with their Grandmother Ada Reynolds in Tampa, Florida.

Marriage license in files of this page.They had 6 children; Joseph Croft, Catherine Marie, Lowell Bland, Betty Ann, Bobby Joe and Peggy Mae Marlow. Rose remarried Linwood Leroy Mitchell in the 1950's and had one daughter Susie Mae Mitchell Hudson.

Rosa and Thurston had two daughters, Thelma and Dot. They were raised by Ada Reynolds their grandmother and Thurston's mother after the death of Rosa Reynolds. This photo was taken in abt 1933-34 My mom would have been abt 12 or 13 so this may be Lillian, who was 4 years her junior. It looks like her. She may have been almost 8 when she died.The photo is at Fipps Cemetery where so many of grandmother's photos were made.

Photo given me by Lonie M. Elliott. Her daughter Evylene married Harvey Housand and they live just a few blocks from Lonie's retirement home in Conway, SC. I have met Harvey, Evyleen was not at home the day Lonie and I visited. Pete is married to a Griffin and lives at the Myrtle Beach, SC.

As you noted the Marlow's began to add the (e) to their name, but the original spelling is Marlow, Marler, Marlough, Marlo, Marrlo. Edward and Louise (nickname was Stinky) given by my dad, in photo with Gerri (me) and my brother Skeeter in Newark New Jersey. I have not seen them since 1952 when Unlce Elwood fell to his death 4 stories as a window cleaner. He worked with my dad in the window cleaning business at the time, and his safety hook rusted, gave away when he fell and died. I am desperately seeking to find my cousins and any leads would be appreciated.Their mother was Louise Ikner Marlow from the Chadbourn area of NC.

Thelma Reynolds married a Evans from Florida. It took my mom and I nearly 20 years to finally locate them. They came to North Carolina to visit and reunite. Thelma died within months of the visit due to lung cancer and is buried in Tampa Florida.

Lonie gave me this photo also, I think she said that it was Lucy's birthday and the families were gathered together at her home in Duford, community of Nichols, SC. This was before they went into retirement homes. Lonie visits Lucy regularly.
