I am researching the Brister's of Louisiana and the U.S. I have traced them back to John Bristow born abt. 1649 in London, Eng. He died Oct. 10, 1716 in Saluda, Va. He was married to Mary Goodloe Carter, b.Oct. 31, 1681, in ChristChurch Parish, Middlesex Cty, Va. She died Sept. 5, 1744 in Middlesex Cty, Va. My branch of the Brister's settled around Natchitoches, La. My g-grandfather, Allen Thompson Brister, came to La. from Yazoo Cty. Miss. abt. the mid 1800's. This information is the best I have. It may not be completely accurate.

Brister was first Bristow and appears to have been changed to Brister in the mid 1700's. Any information about this family would be greatly appreciated.

I am also looking for information on the Doucette family. My ggg grandfather was Joseph Valsin Doucette, m. to Mary or Marie Josephine Chiasson.
