Samuel Blair
Samuel Blair a highly respected farmer, who had lived more than twenty years one mile south and four miles west of this city was born in Cochranton,Pa , March 24, 1843 and died June 10, 1903.
He was one of twelve children four of whom are still living . He came in 1865 to Bloomington,Ill, then came to Nebraska City,Neb, where he was united in marriage to Miss Alice Hall and they removed to Fillmore county and settled on the farm where they spent the remainder of his life .He leaves a wife and four sons to mourn his departure.He had suffered for years with complications of diseases but finally succumbed to consumption.
Brother Blair was converted in early life and united with the Presbyterian church but later joined the United Brethern church which was located near him . According to a promise , in answer to an earnest request made more than two years prior to his death, Rev. J>S> Stapeles preached his funeral sermon at the Congregations church June 12, at 2p.m..
A large number of his friends and neighbors followed from his late home to the cemetery, " a good man has gone for God took him . "Rev.J.S. Staples
