Jesse Briggs b. 1795 Otsego Co. NY, first appears on census in Independence, Allegany Co. NY in 1830. From there they went to Scio, Allegany Co. NY. His wifes name is Mary (Polly), possibly daughter of Naboth B. Welch of Otsego Co. Jesse and Marys known children are Silas Lewis, b1830 in Independence, Allegany Co. NY; Sally Ann b.1832; Naboth B. b. 1838; Elizabeth b. c. 1824. Jesse served in the Seminole war in the Georgia Militia under Capt. Harrison. They all came to Waushara Co Wisconsin in about 1857. Silas m Sarah Jane Russell, children, Mary J.; Lucinda M; Benjamin; Erwin; Alvica; John Wm.; Alonzo; Ella M. There is a good possiblity that he is the son of Abner Briggs b. 1754.
