Sources for this family history have come mainly from census records and contacts on other family history sites. I started with my father's family who originated in Tillingham Essex and moved to the North East in the 1870's. My great grandfather Elijah Cottiss found work at Pochin's on the river Tyne. I have traced my mother's family back to Padbury in Oxfordshire and Norfolk. My great grandfather George Lewis Gibbard moved to the North East from London and my great grandfather Edward Bell moved from Norfolk. His wife Julia also moved to the North East from Kings Lynn but I don't think they moved together. |
