I am researching the STALEY family from Frederick County, Maryland. I am particularly interested in the antecedents of Fleet Eugene Staley who was born about 1850. There are records of two individuals by that name and I am trying to settle a dispute in my husband's family as to who Fleet's parents were. One version goes that Fleet's parents were Daniel Staley and Amelia Hedges who died a few days apart in a Cholera epidemic in the fall of 1849. Fleet was an infant at their death and had Malhlon, Daniel, Octavius, Lewis, Ann Salinda, and Joseph E. for siblings. The orphans were farmed out to neighbors and relatives. He later married Mary Jane Zimmerman. The other version goes that Fleet Eugene was born on Feb. 28, 1850 and married Mary Jane Hedges. He was the child of Jonathan and his first wife Mary E. Staley. In this scenerio, his siblings were Charles, Clara Johnson, Ida May and Cora Staley. In addition, I'm researching the BRINKLEY family (West Virginia? before 1900), KEYSER family (Maryland before 1900)and TONKIN family (Cornwall, England before 1700). Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have. |
