This limited Ancestor and Descendant Family Page is for Jettie Ann Lee [born: Whitlow]. Born in Pontotoc, Mississippi 30-12-1882, she died in Sacramento, California on 2 September 1969. The information in this Family Tree is a humble tribute to the memory of the only ancestor whom I have known. Data and exhibits will be added as possible. However, be it remembered that upon the death of her daughter, Claire Josephine Lee, this webmaster acquired Gradma Lee's husband's Military Burial Flag, Family Bible given to her son, Jack Lee, in 1947, and her last pair of shoes and stockings, among the scant possessions of "family value" as relecs. These will be passed on to a surviving member of "Gran'ma's," by Grace Kimiye Kenmotsu, of Foster City, California, who was with Claire when she died, November 2005, in Pacifica, California. Genealogical data for the Whitlow family posted here was provided in 1982 by Dorothy O'Brien, formerly of Arthur City, Texas. She has since chosen not to respond to further contact. Claire Josephine Lee had long stated that the oral tradition of the Whitlows, from whom Jettie descends, were from Scotland. From a document by the Historical Research Center this name traces to the east of Scotland, both Fife, as well as Dunbar. Nevertheless, I have never succeeded in going back in the genealogy before 1803. My mother stated that her ancestor "jumped ship" after the Revolutionary War, and for that reason, may have changed his identity to what we have today. Grace and I are, however, active members in the Murray Clan Society of North America, of which His Grace, Lord John Murray, 11th Duke of Atholl, is Chief of Clan Murray. We are very good acquaintences of His Grace, and have been invited to visit him in South Africa, should the opportunity arise. We will attend the Scottish Homecoming in Edinburgh Castle in July 2009, and shall be with Clan Murray at that time. The kith and kin of Jettie Ann Lee are welcome to join their Scottish kinsmen under the Sept, Dinsmore, at Scots' events, such as Burns Suppers and Highland Games. |
