| This page is dedicated to the decendants of Thomas BRISCOE, born ca. 1789 in Virginia. By 1810, Thomas moved to Tennessee and then to Alabama, where his work in the Baptist church was well ducumented. Thomas married Sarah HILL (may be DOSSEY) before 1820. In the 1850 census of Alabama, Thomas' birthplace is listed as Virginia, and Sarah's is listed as South Carolina. Thomas and Sarah had many children including John, Nancy, James W., Thomas Huell Lawson, Martin Van Buren, Joseph Lane an others. Several of the men served in the War Between the States for the CSA. James W. Briscoe married Nancy G. CARTER a decendant of Capt Thomnas Carter of Virginia. This Carter line has been completly traced to Emperior CHARLAMANGE. Thomas' parents have not yet been found. I believe that he is the decendant of Thomas Briscoe, Sr. of Lee County, Virginia. He will probubly be the brother or nephew of Issac Briscoe of Oklahoma, and James W. Briscoe of Arkansas.
