 Includes NotesNotes for Louisa Bunney:
Boot Hill is part of the ancient road to both Wyke Regis and Portland and it has been known in times past as Boot Lane and Leach Lane. Confusingly, the Edward's houses at the junction of the Old High Street and Boot Hill have inscribed on the boundary wall the name "Edwards Avenue" and further along on the same side the end row of houses before the summit has Rodwell Road written on the corner house. Rodwell Road is the correct name as this is the area of Weymouth known as Rodwell. It is along this road, followed directly into Old Castle Road that leads to Sandsfoot Castle and this was the old route to Portland before the Buxton Road was built.
Further up Boot Hill at the mini roundabout is the junction with the Wyke Road and as its name implies this road leads to Wyke Regis and the church of All Saints, which was formerly the Mother church to Weymouth. Along Wyke Road on the right hand side is a rather handsome looking old building. This building was erected and opened in 1836 as the Weymouth Union Workhouse and stands on the site of the former Weymouth Poorhouse.

William Bunney married Sarah Anne Roberts 23 March 1862 at Melcombe Regis Parish Church, Weymouth, Dorset, England.
As far as I know William was the second son of Robert Bunney and Sarah Payne (nee Woodberry). His parents married at Halberton Parish Church, Nr. Tiverton, Devon on 06 February 1831. Previous generations seem to have come from Halberton and/or Tiverton in Devon, England
William Bunney himself was born in Halberton around 1832-1837, different censuses produce differing dates. After being an Ag Lab for some years he became a railway labourer and (presumably due to this job) moved to Wigan, Lancashire around 1876-1881. He and Sarah Anne had Mary Ann, Ellen, William, Louisa and Alfred William (all Bunneys) in Radipole and Weymouth, Dorset (1862-1875) and Alice Bunney in Ince-in-Makerfield, near Wigan, Lancashire in 1885. These children gave rise to a few Bunney families in and around Wigan. Louisa Bunney (b.21 July 1868) went on to marry John Thomas Bailey and Henry Finch and died in Stockport, Cheshire 21 November 1918.
