RICHARD YARBOROUGH was b. c 1750-55 prob. in VA. At this point, his parentage is unknown, but he is proven to be the brother of THOMAS GRIGGS YARBOROUGH (c1750-1799),and OWEN YARBOROUGH (bc. 1755-?) and an unknown sister who md. Thomas Coggins. He was likely the s/o either Thomas Griggs Yarborough, Sr.(b.c 1720 VA) or of a John Y. (bc.1720)This group of Yarboroughs seem to have moved from the Caroline Co, VA/Brunswick Co, VA area into Duplin Co, NC around 1767.By 1772, they had moved southward into the area of South Carolina which today comprises Fairfield and Chester Co, SC. The first record that we have for RICHARD YARBOROUGH is a deed in the Camden District of SC in 1772 between JOHN YARBOROUGH and JOB BASS, which Richard and a JAMES YARBOROUGH witnessed.From that time until about 1819, Richard appears in numerous deeds in Chester, Fairfield and Edgefield Cos., SC. It appears that he died in SC around 1809.Anyone with further information on this line is urged to contact me.I will be happy to share what information I have.
