Notes for HENRY BROWN:
Henry was the last farmer in Grundy County Illinois to farm with horses. Many in the Morris area who didn't personally know him, knew him as the guy north of town who still farmed with horses. Even after his sons bought him a tractor in the late 1950's, he continued to use horses for a great deal of his field work into the mid-1960's. He was an avid hunter, who even in his mid-eighties, could out-walk his sons and grandsons when pheasant hunting. He also enjoyed fishing, card games, shuffle board, and playing pool. He remained very active right up to the day of his death.
