2. MARY ELIZABETH² STURTZ (JOHN CHRISTIAN¹) was born June 07, 1864 in Harrisburg, Pa., and died December 22, 1952 in Reading, Pa.. She married (1) FREDERICK RAY, son of JOHN RAY and MARGARET MCCALICHER. He was born June 27, 1864 in Birdsboro, Pa.., and died December 12, 1939 in Muhlenberg Twp.. She married (2) JOHN SHERMAN.

Notes for MARY ELIZABETH STURTZ:
Mary Elizabeth was born in the Harrisburg according to her first Marriage records. . Her mother was a deaf mute. The family moved to the Reading area and Mary married twice. First to John Sherman and after his death to Fred Ray. She was married on May 26, 1881. The marriage record at the Berks county Courthouse lists her marrying a John N. Sharman and her name is listed as Lizzie Stiirtz age 18. She was married at the Reformed Church 611 Washington Street, by the Rev. H Mosser in Reading , Pa. (Note the spelling in both names and her age would have been two weeks short of 17 according to her birthdate.) She lived on a farm along Rt. 61 north of Reading and north of Dietricks Dairy after her second marriage to Fred Ray. . After her husband Freds death Mary moved in with her daughter Loretta at 2606 Kutztown Road, Hyde Park, Reading, Pa. She would never use electric lights in her room and always used a kerosene lamp for light. She spent her last years here and passed away on Dec 22, 1952 at the age of 88. She was buried in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Reifton, Pa.

Fred is buried in the Birdsboro Cemetery in Section 4 lot # 83. John Ray 1872-1940,Mary Ray 1875-1958 and Howard Ray 1900-1955 are in the same lot. No stone was found for Fred.

Notes for RALPH SHERMAN:
Ralph Sherman was a successful showman in Vaudeville He traveled the country with the act of Sherman and Fuller. He was married and divorced. He worked at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Reading, Pa as an elevator operator late in life. He spent his last years living with Harry and Loretta at 2606 Kutztown Road in Hyde Park, Reading, Pa. He was like a second Father to Shirley and Jerry. Every Saturday evening he would take the two of them to the Rio theater on Schuylkill to a movie and then out for a meal to the restaurant across the street. He died on Sept. 4th 1951 at the age of 68 years 10 months and 30 days. Services were held at the Francis F. Seidel Funeral home on 5th Street in Reading, Rev Paul T. Slinghoff officiated. He was laid to rest at the Forest Hills Memorial Park in Section C Grave C lot 15-Block E in Reifton, Pa. His grave is unmarked.

Harry and Eveline never had any children. They are buried in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reifton, Pa.

Not much is known about Howard. He was married and lived in Easton, Pa. They had one son Howard Jr.
