1. MARY ANN² JACKSON (THOMAS¹) was born July 26, 1838, and died February 04, 1918. She married DAVID COLUMBUS "LUM" EDWARDS ¹ February 17, 1855 in Hopkins Co., KY, son of DAVID EDWARDS and MARY HARPER.

Notes for DAVID COLUMBUS "LUM" EDWARDS:
He was born in 1831 in Tennessee, but was reared at Shakertown in Logan Co., KY along with his mother, Mary Harper, and brother, Hillyard. He was trained as a carder-someone who removed seeds and so forth from the wool for those who wove it into cloth. Later, he learned the trade of carpenter. His father-in -laws was a carpenter also. He left South Union and went to Hopkins Co., KY where he married Mary Ann Jackson in 1855. Together they had 18 children.

Notes for DAVID SPENCER EDWARDS:
D. S. EDWARDS -
Rev. D.S. Edwards served as clerk of the Little Bethel Association for
forty years beginning in 1885. He also served as moderator in the years,
1916, 1917, 1925-1931. He was the preacher at the annual meeting in 1913 when
the association met at the Salem Church. His text was I Timothy 3:5. Rev.
Edwards was born in Hopkins County about 1857 and in his boyhood moved with
His parents to Webster County. He was reared on a farm and about 1880 he
entered the ministry as a Baptist preacher. In 1904, he was a candidate for
County Court Clerk of Hopkins County. Three years prior to this, he was
elected to the state senate from the district composed of the counties of
Hopkins and Christian. He was recognized as a clean and able senator. He was
popular as a pulpit "talker" and did much good. He was at all times and under
all circumstances an honorable, upright Christian gentleman.
