| My sister, Janet M. Osborn, and I are researching the Ledsworth family who settled in Ontario, Canada in the 1800's. Our Great-Great Grandfather, Enoch Ledsworth was born Oct. 16, 1843 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and died Aug. 23, 1918 in Port Hope, Michigan.He married Martha Ellen Towns 15 Nov 1863 in Durham Co., Ontario, Canada, daughter of Edward Towns and Elizabeth Hayward. Enoch came to America from Canada in 1864 and Martha came with her parents in 1861.They settled in Lexington, Sanilac County, Michigan where several of their children were born.They later moved to Huron City, and also lived in New River for a time. Martha's most vivid recollection was the great forest fire of 1881, which threatened to wipe out New River, according to a news clipping dated 1938 in which Martha celebrated her 94th birthday. Enoch and Martha had 12 children, including my Great Grandfather, Charles G. Ledsworth, born Sept. 20, 1866 in Lexington, Michigan and died July 10, 1967 in Leon, Iowa. He lived to be a ripe 101 years old! Enoch and Martha Ellen's children are: Albert E. Ledsworth Charles G. Ledsworth Calvin Ledsworth Lucinda Ledsworth Adeline Ledsworth Mary Ledsworth Emma Jennie Ledsworth Edward Enoch Ledsworth Alfred William Ledsworth John Jay Ledsworth Alice M. Ledsworth Arthur William Ledsworth My sister and I are searching for information beyond Enoch, Sr.We do not know his parents names and their origins.We believe Enoch, Jr. had three brothers: Ephram, Hamilton and Sylvester[Vestry].Any information would be appreciated.We are willing to share our information also.
