Mrs. Judson Brink Dies at the Sacred Heart
Wife of Silk Manufacturer Was in Her 60th Year
Taken ill with heart trouble about two weeks ago, Mrs. Effie Brink of 217 South Sixteenth street, died yesterday morning shortly before 7 o'clock in the Sacred Heart hospital. She was 60 years of age.
Mrs. Brink was the wife of Judson Brink, part owner of the Everett S. Lake silk manufacturing company, of this city. she was born October 13, 1870 in Little Falls N. J., the daughter of William and Euphemia Brown of Pateron, N.J. In November 1899 she married and later moved to Emaus where she lived for about seven years, previous to moving to Allentown five years ago.
Besides being a member of St. John's Reformed church in Emaus, Mrs. Brink was affiliated with New Temple chapter, No. 298, Order of Eastern Star, of this city.
Survivors include the husband, a daughter,Mrs Paul Gibbons, of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Dilworth, Mrs. Alex McKendrick and Miss Margaret Brown, of Paterson, Three brothers, John Brown, Shamokin; William Brown, Philadelphia, and DavidBrown, New Haven Conn. Also one grandchild.
The funeral services will be private and are to be held Thursday from her late home with Rev. D.E. Schaeffer, of Emaus, officiating. Burial will take place in Dover, N.J.

John Brown Dies of Heart Attack at Walnut Street Residence

John Brown, prominent citizen and pioneer silk manufacturer, died at his home, 1635 Walnut Street, at 11:00 this morning form a heart ailment after being stricken while at work on the lawn in front of his residence.
Mr. Brown appeared to be in good health when he arose this morning, and after breakfast with members of his family he read the morning newspaper, and then informed his wife he intended to work on the lawn in front of his home. About 11:00 he was seen to collapse, and neighbors called Robert Dockey, a son-in-law, who was passing at the time. The stricken man was carried into the home and a physician was summoned. The doctor said death was due to a heart ailment.

John Brown was the son of the late William and Euphemia (Brown) Brown, and was born at Paterson, N.J. Educated in Paterson public schools, Mr. Brown became associated with his father in the dying business, and later started in the silk business with his brother-in-law Thomas W. Bentley,one of the leading silk manufacturers. Leaving the Bentley firm to accept a position at Bridgeport, Conn., and later at Hornell, N.Y., Mr. Brown finally accepted an offer from J.H.& C.K. Eagle to come to Shamokin in 1906 and take charge of the warping department of the firm's mill, then estalished at Edgewood.

When the Eagle Company opend the large mill on Franklin Street, Mr. Brown transfered his activities to that plant. He was a member of the board of governors of the J.H. & C.K. Eagle Company.

Sixteen years ago Mr. Brown left the Eagle firm to become associated with Fred Maue in management of the Neilson Silk Company, and continued in that capacity untill four years ago, when he retired from active business. The firm is now Known as the Maue Silk Company.

On October 4, 1899 Mr. Brown wa Married to Miss Isabelle Leckie of Troy N. Y., the ceremony having been performed at Jersey City. Surviving are the widow and five children, Mrs William Deibler, Mrs. Robert Dockey, Mrs. Paul Jones, Shamokin; Mrs. Donald Reese, Hazelton; and Donald Brown, at present employed at the United States Arsenal, Philadelphia.

One brother, Daniel Brown, New York City, and one sister, Miss Margaret Brown, Philadelphia, with a number of grandchildren, survive also.

Deceased was a member of Shamokin Lodge of Masons, No. 255, and Shamokin Lodge of Elks, No. 355. He was a member also of the First Presbyterian Church and attended services every Sunday morning for many years.
