Find Family

The Decendants of Itche Ivraesky and Dobbie Winer, including the decendents of the Friedman, Ptack and Shapiro families living throughout, the United Kingdom, Europe, The United States, Canada,Australia, and Israel and all over the world will be focus of this Home Page.
Our family is a very special one. My Grandfather Dave Friedman, grandson of Dobbie Winer and Itche Ivraesky has taught us all the value of family. The Friedman, Ptack and Shapiro grandchildren of Itche and Dobbie were more like brothers and sisters than cousins. The children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of the Friedman, Ptack, and Shapiro cousins have been reunited with our Winer cousins in England, Israel and Australia. It is with great pride that I launch this Family website in order that we may continue to maintain contact and become closer.

Through this homepage it is hoped that we shall keep up to date on the births, marriages and other special events in each other's lives. Please send pictures, documents and any other information of interest to be posted on the site. We need everyone's email address and other contact information.

Looking forward to a rebirth of our heritage and the organization of Family reunions on a regular basis.

OUR ROSH HASHANAH 5761 REUNION WAS A MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE
More than 150 cousins joined together to start the New Year. We can be proud. Proud that family means enough to us to make the effort. Proud that we are teaching our children that it is the relationships you have with people and especially with family that mean the most....more than the camp you attend, the car you drive or the house you live in. The stories of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents showed us all that when they had nothing, they had everything....and this is what we passed on to our children this day. My son Andrew Brownstein (Friedman), age 10 and his fourth cousin Lorne Wechsler (Ptack) age 10 spent time together for the first time as cousins. My son Matthew started the New Year with his 3rd cousin Jakie Polachek (both age 6)...and they have become "best friends and cousins."

We as a family obviously care about each other and want to share in each others happiness and confort each other in our sorrow, as was demonstrated by our participation in this family celebration for the New Year. We like our cousins of the first generation who were always happy to spend time together, were happy to celebrate together in the basement of Chalet # 1., (nothing too fancy), but the people were special. Let us continue to teach these values to our children and hopefully they can grow to care about each other just as their great-grandparents cared for one another.

In memory of those departed and in honor of those first cousins with us today, we must take hold of the moment and continue to benefit from their presence and ability to continue to pass on to us this most simple message, which is perhaps the most important of all lessons...it is the love, time and sharing that bring us happiness.

I had so little time to meet so many of you and hope to get to know you better by meeting each year to celebrate the New Year. We have a formula that works and can easily be repeated. Please let me know if you would like this to be an annual event.
