He married Coralin Louise Sands May 26, 1910. She was born June 4, 1883, and died January 21, 1919.

He received his early education in the schools of Binghamton and this was followed by a course at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Troy. He secured a certificate from the University of the State of New York. He was employed in his chosen work for a time by the New York Central railroad, and then going to Albany, he entered the offices of the Delaware & Hudson railroad with which company he was identified for seven years; returning to Binghamton, he was employed by and later formed a partnership with the late S.E. Monroe, and became identified with many of the large engineering operations in and about his native city. Since 1926, in which year his father retired from business activity, his attention has been occupied in the administration of the family interests. He is a member of the American Association of Engineers, the Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, the University Club, Alpha Zeta and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternities, Otseningo Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, Binghamton Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, and Malta Commandery.
