Son of Smith Brittain & Sarah Brown, born Dubois Co, IN 1843, married Samantha Mathis, was a successful and properous farmer, county commissioner, a democrat, a mason and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterisn Church, Ireland, IN. Four children, Eva, Ozro C., Ione Idelia, and Guy Brittain. Died march 20, 1915. From Historical Notes of Dubois Co, Indiana.
